UNR vs QID   1336/14 vs 367/3

Stronghold Opposition

With 2nd Division promotion in the bag, UNR were determined to remain undefeated in their last match of season 2….

Tasan’s ISP went down at the start of the match causing unexpected position changes as QID launched an immediate Quad attack!! With Yakumo helping Insomniak in defence, we held the base and made 2 captures in the first 10 minutes before Tas connected to the server replacing Diabolic. As Tas took his position as ‘Rock in defence’, QID managed to make their 1st capture during the changeover.

QID seemed to be defending from the mid (bridge) position. From here they almost had complete control of the Quad making Luke and Finns midfield task almost impossible. As in the UC match, this meant their actual flag was usually undefended…

:O) Rude and Yaku made excellent use of this and quite often made their escape underwater whilst QID concentrated on their precious Quad. It was over 35" before QID’s constant Quad attacks paid off with another 2 captures..well done Inso for his first Savage ‘Assistant Rock’ job in defence!

Most players had appauling connections during the game but QID’s Uresei, Lee, Inferno, EzoRay, Ganjian and Eranu put up an excellent tactical fight. Thanks guys!

Well done ALL of UNR for an excellent performance during our first Savage CTF season and I’m sure Tas is proud of you all!

UNR vs CO   981/11 vs 307/2

Capture Showdown

How did (UNR)Tasan manage to make a capture without leaving the base and not die once?..Read on :O)

A difficult level to play with UNR only being able to field 5 players..We opted for 3 defenders and 2 attackers....

After [UNR]Luke made an early capture things got tight. CO’s attacking force of MaVrIcK, Hawk & Dominator hit our base, taking out [UNR]Diabolic, [UNR]Finn and our Flag! Dominator capped 13" into the match making it One flag each.

After constant pressure from MaVrIcK, Hawk grabbed UNR’s flag but [UNR]Rude got CO’s....A 10" stalemate developed with 4-5 OC defending against UNR’s 2 attackers. To break the deadlock, Rude unselfishly killed himself enabling Tasan to hold the flag in defence…Within a minute the combined attack by Rude, Finn and Luke resulted in our flag return and the capture.

Despite the excellent efforts of CO’s Arcane, T-1000 & mentalist in defence, UNR got 9 more captures before CO made an all out attack 4" from the end. With 5 CO attacking 4 UNR all hell broke loose in our base (not to mention the poor ole Server struggling!). In the mahem Hawk captured our flag a minute from the end!

CO were excellent opponents and a great bunch of guys…Thanx doods for a well fought game…..and how does Tasan manage never die?

He must have sold his soul to J.Carmack or something? ;O)

Well done UNR..another good team effort !!

UNR vs UC   399/4 vs 344/1

Outlands II

The match everybody had been waiting for…UNR vs the highly rated UC…a team that specialise in CTF….lets get ready to Rumble!

UC defended the Blue base from the machine gun area. From here they could control the Water / Tunnel approaches as well as the Railgun / Quad area. Rifleman_UC made excellent use of this position, getting 35 kills with some excellent railing skills. A weakness with this tactic was that after being railed (again!) , Diabolic respawned in their base and made UNR’s first capture after 4". With Tasan and Inquisitor solid in defence, Finn and Rude both made captures in quick succession.

Just after Finn made UNR’s final capture, Slave_UC joined 12" into the match. As well as proving to be an excellent defender with Aqua_UC, he managing to get the Red flag as far as their tunnel before it being returned by a frantic D & Inqi. With Sub-X_UC and Yella_UC attacking, Middleman_UC made their only capture after 30", with some brilliant grappling skills..nice work dood!

UNR expected UC to be a highly polished CTF team but were genuinely taken back by their individual skills….Well played UC!

This was an excellent victory for UNR…..Well done everybody :O)

UNR vs SS   1612/15 vs 364/1

The Smelter

UNR’s third match, against their old Ukccl rivals Suicide Squad, promised to be the toughest challenge yet. Both teams fielded full teams plus reserves…resulting in panic stricken team members getting a ‘Server full’ message when trying to join the match! Klan Wolf restarted the game without spectators, unfortunately this means no demo exists.

Tasan and Inquisitor did an excellent job in defence, this time with Diabolic added to guard the Quad approach. At least 3 [SS] guys seemed to be attacking non-stop and after 25" [SS]Mondo finally managed to captured their only flag.

Finn had the thankless task of covering the midfield whilst 155&Rising and Yakumo attacked. [SS]Blankk led a very tough defence but to their credit, Yaku and 155 made 15 captures :O)

The match turned out to be the most hectic/frantic game I for one have ever played….All credit to [SS] for a professional attitude and performance! A great unselfish team effort by UNR resulted in a well earned victory! :O)

UNR vs BYC   2110/27 vs 219/1

Stronghold Opposition

Without time to catch breath from the 1st game with M, it was straight into the 2nd match against BYC….

As ADMIN Obby started the match, [BYC]Hive attacked with a Quad hyperblaster, briefly grabbing our flag before Tasan & Inquisitor defended. Hive, an LPB, proved to be a problem throughout the match to UNR, with the usual modem flooding associated with the hyperblaster. 155&Rising made the first capture within a minute...She constantly captured from a heavily defended base, usually being chased back by 2-3 defenders, desperately trying to shoot her as she skilfully grappled her way out of trouble...You are the ‘Grapple Queen’ 155!

As Inqi and Finn had con problems, Tas subbed Finn with Diabolic in midfield...The constant battle for control of the Quad on the dangerously exposed bridge was shared by D and JuBoy, whilst Rude and 155 attacked the BYC base.

When Inqi wasn’t standing on the lift roof (LOL), any BYC foolish enough to use this entrance to our base immediately got one of Tasan's rockets between the eyes! Tas never actually died, despite taking 2 Railgun shots whilst issuing instructions! [prob. my fave quote of the match "Rude get the flag Dude" :O)] With [BYC]Hive doing an excellent job in defence, they threw everything at our base during the last 10 minutes. Whilst our defence was chasing and killing one flag carrier, [BYC]Rog sneaked in and captured our flag 3 mins from the end! Nice one dood!

Despite some annoying calls to concede during the match and one player leaving before the screenshot, BYC put up an excellent battle, special thanx to SPB for his courtesy at the end.

A well earned victory UNR, Well done ALL!

UNR vs M   4036/60 vs 0/0

Mckinley's Revival

Could UNR repeat their DM UKCCL success in the already established CTF league? After countless rescheduling over the last few weeks the pontification was over, now was the time to enter Klan Wolfs den ;O)

Clan M could only muster the minimum of 3 players, but to their credit they were up for the challenge. M fought hard against all odds but along with [UNR]Finn, Doormat14 and Prey had awful connections. After 15 minutes Prey had to leave for a prior engagement and Mr.Blond overflowed for a minute. Tasan and Inquisitor were rocks in defence, it took 22 mins before Doormat actually made it to our flag before being killed.

Tasan also co-ordinated the team by ensuring the midfield players didn’t try too many heroics [I still got the first flag capture tho Tas ;OP]. 155 and Rude were making captures like a well-oiled machine whilst Diabolic and Finn took control of the BFG / Quad areas, protecting both base and flag carriers.

Heroically the 2 remaining M guys struggled on, Mr.Blond keeping in good humour despite the hopelessness of the situation. After 25" he decided they’d better "quit whilst we’re behind" when Doormat14 announced he also had to go! At this stage of the game the score was a stomping 2346 to 23. Not to be disheartened by the lack of enemy, Tasan organised a ‘show’ much to the amusement of the spectators whilst 155 and Finn went through the motions of finishing the game.

UNR’s first CTF game and a record breaking 4036 score ! Can UNR play CTF aswell as DM? Watch Obbers demo…

The results page is not incorrect, M forfeited their 23 frags for leaving the game prematurely.
